thePlatform announced the appointment of Michael Kurtzman as Vice President of Sales for the Americas, where he will be responsible for leading the company's sales in North, South and Central America. Additionally, the company announced that Jouari Santiago has joined thePlatform as Director of Sales for Latin America. Kurtzman comes to thePlatform with more than a decade of experience creating and executing strategies to bring SaaS platforms, mobile applications and digital media products to market. Verizon Digital Media Services and thePlatform announced a new strategic alliance to accelerate major media and pay-TV operators' plans for multiscreen video delivery. The companies have integrated the Verizon Digital Media Services suite of video services and thePlatform's mpx video-management system to form a complete solution, which the companies will jointly sell. The alliance brings to market a streamlined workflow for online video streaming, from content management through delivery to consumers on multiple screens. The combined solution will allow customers to manage a complete IP-video solution from a single Web-based console. The leading cloud-based video publishing and management platform of thePlatform and Verizon's video workflow solution - which includes single-format media processing for the high quality playback across devices and content delivery network -unite the video ecosystem in one integrated offering. The integration provides scale and quality of experience while simplifying complex features like dynamic ad insertion, closed captioning and analytics. Customers will be able to manage files and metadata; set business and monetization policies; enforce content viewing rights; provision video players; and distribute videos to their own websites, third-party sites, smartphones, tablets, game consoles and more. The new alliance has found early success in the marketplace, having launched two key customers in recent months. The end-to-end Verizon Digital Media Services solution powers the authenticated TV Everywhere experience for REVOLT TV. Bellator, a mixed martial arts league co-owned by Viacom, recently launched a completely new version of bellator.com, built from the ground up using the integrated Verizon Digital Media Services and mpx solution.

thePlatform announced the appointment of Marty Roberts and Jamie Miller as co-CEOs. Roberts and Miller will jointly manage overall corporate strategy and execution, but each will also focus on specific areas of functional responsibility. Most recently, Roberts served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at thePlatform. As co-CEO, he will add to his responsibilities the leadership of the company's engineering and technology activities. Alan Ramaley, CTO, and Mike Horwitz, Senior Vice President, Engineering will both report to Roberts. Prior to joining thePlatform in 2006, Roberts served in leadership positions at GiftCertificates.com and RealNetworks. Miller most recently served as COO and CFO at thePlatform, overseeing the company's administrative organisations, as well as ownership of the company's consulting services business. In his role as co-CEO, he will add to those responsibilities oversight of expansion in Europe and the Middle East. Simon McGrath, general manager, Europe will report to Miller.
