Proton Launches Refreshed Iriz Hatchback in Malaysia

Proton has launched a refreshed version of the Iriz hatchback in Malaysia. The vehicle is powered by a choice of two engines, 1.3 litre or 1.6 litre. The engines are mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or continuously variable transmission (CVT). The new Iriz features an improved noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) level, an eco-drive assist indicator, and a refined engine control unit (ECU) calibration that provides linear response for improved drivability. The vehicle also features various interior and exterior cosmetic updates.

Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd. has reportedly agreed to buy Proton Holdings Bhd. from DRB-HICOM Berhad's (KLSE:DRBHCOM), beating out rival bidder Peugeot S.A. (ENXTPA:UG). Zhejiang Geely will acquire 49% stake in Proton.
