Nymi Inc. has appointed a new chief executive officer as it prepares for its first commercial product launch, slated for 2016. Karl Martin, the founder of the company formerly known as Bionym, will be stepping aside as CEO after the recruitment of security technology industry veteran John Haggard. Bionym announced its technology trial that ties the Nymi Band, a wearable device that provides persistent identity based on the uniqueness of a wearer's heart, to a MasterCard card for payment. The trial will put customers and their existing accounts at Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) and other issuing banks at the forefront of innovative technology by testing ECG-authenticated payments in Canada before the end of the year.
