Korean Companies Reportedly Seek Sale

Reportedly several construction companies in south Korea are seeking to sell themselves. Keangnam Enterprises Co., Ltd. (Keangnam) is seeking to sell itself. The company said Friday that Samil PwC, the manager of its sale, is accepting letters of intent from potential bidders until May 27, 2016. After a month of due diligence, the accounting firm will proceed with the main bidding on June 30, 2016. Keangnam is also selling its subsidiary Suwan Energy CO.,LTD., an electric power and heat generator operator, in a separate open bid. The preliminary bidding is set for June 4, 2016 and the main bidding for June 26, 2016. Dongbu Corporation (KOSE:A005960) is also seeking to sell itself. Dongbu's sale managers, Hyundai Securities and Samil PwC, plan to conduct a preliminary due diligence by May 29, 2016 and open the main bid on June 10, 2016 local reports said. Other construction companies up for sale include Sambu Construction Co., Ltd. (KOSE:A001470), DongAh Construction Industrial Co., Ltd., Kukdong Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd., Woolim Co. Ltd. and STX Construction CO., Ltd. Doosan Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. (KOSE:A011160) is also seeking a closed-door sale of its heat recovery steam generator division. Its deal managers are BDA Partners and Ernst & Young. General Electric and Morgan Stanley Private Equity have shown interest in a deal with Doosan E&C, local reports said.
