Scottish Widows Announces Executive Changes

Scottish Widows has appointed former Morgan Stanley managing director Jeff Sayers as its bulk annuities and investment strategy boss.
Sayers has been appointed to the newly created role of managing director of bulk annuities and investment strategy. Sayers, who worked as managing director and head of European insurance at Morgan Stanley until 2013, joined the company in 2013 as divisional risk officer. The new role comes as part of a reshuffle within Lloyds' insurance division leadership which will see Catriona Herd, general counsel for insurance at Lloyds replace Sayers as divisional risk officer. Mario Mazzocchi, who is currently Lloyds interim chief operating officer, will move to the role of at retirement, bancassurance and protection director, replacing Richard Jones who will move to the role of managing director, Black Horse Finance, Lloyds' motor insurance arm, on 1 July 2015. Tara Foley, who is currently on maternity leave, will take up the role of chief operating officer again when she returns on 11 May 2015. James Hillman has been appointed as chief actuary.

Scottish Widows plc has appointed Damian Coleman as head of individual distribution and Gordon Egan as head of corporate distribution. Damian will lead a team of 30 colleagues across the UK and will focus on building and developing individual intermediary relationships, while Gordon will lead 50 colleagues focusing on supporting both intermediaries and employers.

Scottish Widows announced that intermediaries director Simon Massey and employee benefits and direct distribution director Andy Barton have left the firm following a restructure as the provider focuses on supporting advisers and employers through automatic enrolment. The restructure, led by pensions and investments director Ronnie Taylor, will see the creation of a new specialist auto-enrolment team to work with advisers and employers from 1 January. Massey and Barton have left the provider as a result.
