Trane Inc. Key Developments

Trane Announces its Series R RTWD Water-Cooled Chiller for Commercial and Industrial Buildings

Trane is announcing that its Series R® RTWD water-cooled chiller for commercial and industrial buildings is now available for customers in North America and the Middle East who are ready to transition to systems with lower global warming potential (GWP). The Series R RTWD chiller, available in 80-250 tons, delivers energy efficiency coupled with ease of installation, application flexibility and high reliability. These chillers can operate with a choice of R-134A or Opteon XP10 (R-513A), a next-generation, low-GWP refrigerant from Chemours. With an infinite unloading compressor design, wide operating temperature range, heat-recovery options up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, advanced controls and high efficiencies, these chillers can be the perfect choice for tight temperature control in almost any application. The Series R RTWD chiller joins the Ingersoll Rand EcoWise portfolio of products, which are designed to lower environmental impact with next-generation, low-GWP refrigerants and high efficiency operation. Other Trane chillers included in the EcoWise portfolio are CenTraVac centrifugal chillers, Trane Sintesis air-cooled chillers and Trane Series E CenTraVac for Europe and the Middle East. EcoWise products: Are available with next-generation, lower-GWP refrigerants; reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; maintain safety and energy efficiency through innovative design; and meet or exceed emissions regulations.

Trane Introduces Xstream New Range of Water-Cooled Screw Chillers Now Available in Europe and the Middle East

Trane introduced XStream a new range of water-cooled screw chillers now available in Europe and the Middle East. The new generation of chillers addresses the needs of building owners who are looking for high operational efficiency, versatility of applications, and the best return on investment to offset rising energy costs. The new XStream range offers high capacities of up to 2.3 MW, unmatched by any other screw chiller available on the market today. The XStream offers a reliable and efficient alternative for owners who require a higher seasonal efficiency in critical applications and buildings such as data centres, hospitals, process cooling, large office buildings and district cooling and heating. The flexible design of the XStream chiller portfolio delivers efficiency configurations that can be truly tailored to customers’ needs. These include: Available in four efficiency levels that achieve Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) and European Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (ESEER). The XStream XE model offering Net EER value of 5.72 (5.88 Gross EER) and the XStream HSE unit reaching 7.49 Net (7.69 Gross) ESEER value. Series counterflow configuration that significantly increases the efficiency of the chiller plant and reduces installation costs. All sizes with dual circuit configuration, reducing refrigerant content per circuit and further increasing reliability. Full compatibility with the use of variable flow for reduced power consumption. All XStream chillers are given a complete functional test and validation in the Trane testing facility in Epinal, France. The computer-based test program comprehensively checks the sensors, wiring, electrical components, microprocessor function, communication capability and expansion valve performance to assure the high quality standards.

Trane Expands CenTraVac Centrifugal Chiller Portfolio in US and Canada

Trane Inc. has expanded its CenTraVac centrifugal chiller portfolio for big buildings and industrial applications in the US and Canada. These additions address customer demand for chillers and services that are efficient, reliable, safe and compliant with current and proposed regulations. In 2017, Trane will offer small tonnage CenTraVac chillers for markets like office and municipal buildings with a choice of current, high efficiency refrigerant R-123 or R-514A. R-514A is a next-generation, low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant from Chemours (Opteon XP30). Starting now, Trane offers large tonnage CenTraVac chillers for applications such as industrial buildings, data centers and higher education facilities with R-1233zd (Honeywell Solstice zd). Trane CenTraVac chillers are the most reliable, efficient, lowest emission and quietest centrifugal chillers on the market. They are part of the Ingersoll Rand EcoWise portfolio of products that are designed to lower environmental impact with next-generation, low-GWP refrigerants and high efficiency operation. To provide customers maximum flexibility, Trane will offer a service option that requires minimal rework to convert existing CenTraVac chillers with R-123 to R-514A. It will also extend its availability and price guarantee on R-123 for customers purchasing a CenTraVac chiller using the refrigerant.
