Emerson Network Power, Inc. Key Developments

Emerson Network Power Introduces Compact Perimeter Cooling Solutions to Efficiently Lower Data Center Operating Costs

Emerson Network Power introduced the Liebert PDX and Liebert PCW compact perimeter cooling systems to help data center managers achieve the efficiency and protection with low capital, installation and maintenance costs, as well as the industry's most compact footprint. The new systems are available in North America. Ideal for small and medium IT spaces and telecommunication switching offices, the thermal management systems replace the industry-standard Liebert Challenger 3000 compact cooling system. The efficiency of the Liebert PDX perimeter cooling system exceeds new U.S. Department of Energy minimum efficiency standards for data center equipment, which apply to certain direct expansion systems shipped after January 1, 2016. For instance, the system in 18kW capacity is 13% more efficient than the efficiency standards. As a family, they offer the industry's net capacity per square foot. The Liebert PDX direct expansion cooling system is 25% more efficient than the Liebert Challenger, while the Liebert PCW compact chilled water cooling system is twice as efficient. The thermal management systems feature an integrated Liebert iCOM unit control, which provides the level of protection and efficiency with fast and easy deployment and commissioning. Liebert iCOM features machine to machine communication to eliminate conflicts in temperature, airflow and humidity, increasing efficiency and providing superior protection across the data center's thermal management system. The Liebert PDX and Liebert PCW compact perimeter cooling systems are available in upflow and downflow configurations, with the direct expansion system having nominal ratings of 18kW (5 tons), 23kW (6.5 tons) and 29kW (8 tons) and the chilled water system having nominal ratings of 17kW (5 tons) and 29kW (8 tons).

Emerson Network Power Introduces Liebert® Custom Air Handling Units

Emerson Network Power introduced Liebert® Custom Air Handling Units, the comprehensive line of air handling solutions for mission critical environments. Now available globally, Liebert Custom Air Handling Units offer wide-ranging configuration options and the most advanced thermal optimization controls designed specifically for data center applications. Comprised of the Liebert Direct Evaporative Free-Cooling Unit, Liebert Indirect Evaporative Free-Cooling Unit, Liebert Chilled Water Air Handler and Liebert DX Air Handler, the suite offers, from a single supplier, a level of customization and flexibility previously not available for data centers. The Liebert Custom Air Handling Units feature the Liebert iCOM control system, which provides advanced protection and efficiency optimization enabling the units to achieve annual mechanical PUEs well under 1.2. The control system offers machine-to-machine (m2m) teamwork with advanced algorithms that automatically adjust air flow, temperature and economizer operations based on IT loads and outdoor conditions to optimize efficiency and protection. Unlike off-the-shelf controls that can be difficult to deploy, Liebert iCOM may not require customized programming or third party integration. As a result, customers can reduce installation and deployment costs by up to 20% compared to alternative air handling control solutions. Liebert Custom Air Handling Units have been deployed by a number of companies looking to improve data center efficiency and capacity. For instance, Green House Data, a cloud hosting, colocation and managed IT solutions provider, recently deployed multiple Liebert Indirect Evaporative Free-Cooling Units in its Cheyenne, Wyoming facility.

Emerson Network Power Introduces SmartCabinetTM for Branch and Remote IT Locations

Emerson Network Power introduced the SmartCabinet TM, a pre-engineered integrated rack solution designed for deployment at the edge of IT networks and remote locations such as stores, branch offices and small and medium businesses. These compact, rapidly deployable solutions support local data storage and processing with the industry’s most comprehensive single-cabinet unified infrastructure solution that provides secure remote monitoring and manageability. The SmartCabinet for branch and remote locations is available in North America. The integrated serial console server allows IT managers to centrally manage all IT assets and infrastructure remotely without having to dispatch support personnel or contractors. These operations are secure and network-independent with public switched telephone network (PSTN) or 4G LTE capabilities and full Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS)-compliant encryption and authentication. The SmartCabinet for branch offices also takes advantage of Emerson Network Power’s expertise in power distribution and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, offering intelligent power distribution, battery health monitoring and power conditioning and battery backup. The best-in-class physical security, with fully lockable cabinets, intrusion detection with remote alerting and optional surveillance, protects IT systems and infrastructure from manipulation or theft.
