PBS KIDS Introduces New Mobile App from ODD SQUAD

PBS KIDS has introduced Blob Chase, a mobile app from ODD SQUAD, its new media series. Available for iPad, Android tablets and Fire tablet, ODD SQUAD Blob Chase extends the adventures and humor of the series, as kids chase and recover blobs that have escaped their containers and are on the loose in Odd Squad headquarters. The new app encourages kids to use math skills to investigate and solve problems, just as the agents do in the new series. ODD SQUAD, which premiered in November 2014, airs weekdays on PBS KIDS (check local listings) and offers games, videos and more at pbskids.org/oddsquad.

Overstock.com, Inc. Partners with PBS KIDS to Launch Kid Zone

Overstock.com Inc. and PBS KIDS announced a new cause partnership with the launch of Overstock's new Kid Zone just in time for holiday shopping. This shop within Overstock's online shopping site includes thousands of children's products that were selected for their educational characteristics. Overstock will give a portion of proceeds from every Kid Zone sale to support the mission of PBS KIDS, to open a world of educational possibilities for every child. Kid Zone is one of a variety of specialty product sections on Overstock. Products sold in the Kid Zone are designed to inspire creativity, fun and imagination in children. The Kid Zone also provides links to PBS KIDS resources and family activities. PBS KIDS' goal, as an educational media brand for kids, is to reach children everywhere with content that is rooted in academic frameworks, preparing young children for success in school and in life. To support the mission, 100% of the net proceeds PBS KIDS receives from sales in the Overstock Kid Zone shop will go toward improving the lives of children through curriculum-based entertainment with positive role models and content designed to nurture children's total well-being.

PBS KIDS Announces New Series Odd Squad

PBS KIDS announced the production of its newest series: ODD SQUAD, a live-action media property designed to help kids ages 5-8 learn math. The show focuses on two young agents, Olive and Otto, who are part of the Odd Squad, an agency whose mission is to save the day whenever something unusual happens in their town. A math concept is embedded in each of their cases, as Olive and Otto work together to problem-solve and correct the oddity du jour in each episode. Each episode of ODD SQUAD includes two 11-minute cases in which the agents investigate weird and unusual phenomena around them and use math to put things right. From recapturing a gallon-sized blob that has separated into smaller pieces, to dealing with a slew of unicorns, dinosaurs and wizards that have escaped from books, there is no occurrence that is too strange for the Odd Squad as they face off against various villains that wreak havoc around town.
