Taylor Wessing LLP has hired Duncan McDonald, pictured, as a partner, expanding the number of private equity lawyers to 20 in London as it seeks to enhance turnaround and debt fund-related practices. McDonald joins from Olswang LLP, where he specialized in private equity work in its international corporate group, acting for private equity funds and management teams on startups, as well as management buyouts and buy-ins. He also offered advice on cross-border M&A and joint ventures. He was with the firm for more than eight years.
Taylor Wessing to Launch International Corporate Crime and Fraud Unit; Appoints Partners to Lead New Unit

Taylor Wessing is set to launch an international corporate crime and fraud unit of 40 partners and another 60 lawyers to be a "one stop shop" for regulatory advice. The team will draw on lawyers practising financial services regulation, data protection, sanctions, competition, anti-corruption, investigations, employment, litigation, regulation and criminal defence. The unit is expected to appeal to regulated institutions, listed companies and businesses active in high-risk industries. The firm also expects to receive interest in financial services, energy and extractive industries, pharma and healthcare and high-risk geographies.
The firm has appointed disputes and investigations partners David de Ferrars and Tim Strong to lead the new unit, which will operate across the Taylor Wessing network.
