Motion Computing, Inc. Key Developments

Motion Computing Upgrades Popular F5 and C5 Tablet Series with 4G XLTE and Intel’s® Latest Core™-Series Processors

Motion Computing unveiled two powerful new tablet PCs –purpose-built for the needs of utility, oil and gas, mining, manufacturing, public safety, and healthcare workforces. Within its iconic chassis design, Motion has packed in critical upgrades to connectivity, processing power, security, and image capture technology. The new F5m and C5m rugged Windows®-based tablets make field workers more productive by increasing efficiency, helping to reduce data capture errors and improving real-time communication capability resulting in better decision making and labor cost savings. Designed to deliver connectivity when it matters most, the F5m and C5m Tablets include new ultra-high speed 4G XLTE broadband radios that equip mobile workers with twice the bandwidth to boost productivity capabilities in the field. In combination with the tablets’ integrated 802.11ac Wi-Fi technology for local access network connectivity, the devices’ mobile broadband solution ensures reliable voice and data support in both high-traffic urban locales and remote job sites. However, in today’s data-driven environment, it is critical that security not be compromised as data speeds – and consumption – increase. Long focused on protecting customers’ most sensitive data from malicious attack, Motion enables multi-factor authentication capabilities through a combination of password, fingerprint scanner and optional smart card reader for enterprise environments such as healthcare, public safety and manufacturing. The F5m and C5m now feature an optional self-encrypting drive, and the security profile is further enhanced with the inclusion of WinMagic's SecureDocTM full disk encryption software and the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) as standard features. Additional theft recovery protection and remote manageability options are also available with the optional Absolute® Computrace® add-on. Motion has also given the F5m and C5m series a significant upgrade that delivers high-end, lasting processing power. The addition of 5th Gen Intel® Core™ processors (Broadwell-U 2+3), including the high performing i7 vPro™ chipset, provides the power to quickly move through computation-intensive applications, while increasing overall power efficiency. By also providing backward compatibility with existing peripherals, Motion customers can refresh aging F5 or C5 platforms and continue to use the workflow-enabling peripherals they purchased with earlier generations of the tablet. Overall, Motion’s tablets are built to survive challenging work environments and cater to mobile workers that are in and out of vehicles frequently, operating on worksites exposed to demanding conditions – including direct sunlight, rain and dusty environments. The tablets’ 10.4” high resolution Corning® Gorilla® Glass display incorporates Motion’s View Anywhere® technology to provide optimal visibility in direct sunlight and support superior data capture in the field. The new 8 MP rear camera – combined with the SnapWorks™ by Motion camera application – makes it easy to capture, annotate and share the higher resolution images required for inspection and documentation workflows. Additionally, Motion’s EasyConnect RFID Long Range Reader is perfect for logistics and inventory management. Proof of the F5m Tablet’s durability is also backed by its MIL-STD-810G certification for ruggedness, IP54 certification against dust and water ingress, and CID2 certification for use in hazardous environments where explosive gasses may be present.
