Turkish Airlines and Air Algerie Sign Code Share Agreement

Turkish Airlines and Air Algerie have signed a code share agreement on routes between Algeria and Turkey, which is set to further expand travel opportunities for the customers of the two airlines. The agreement will be effective as of May 15, 2016. This new code share agreement is bound to broaden the commercial partnership between the two companies. At the same time, passengers of both airlines will be given more travel options between Algeria and Turkey. Under the terms of the agreement, Air Algerie and Turkish Airlines will place their carrier codes on each other's flights reciprocally between Istanbul - Algiers and Istanbul - Constantine. In this respect, Air Algerie will place its carrier code on Turkish Airlines' flights on Istanbul - Oran v.v., Istanbul - Tlemcen v.v. and Istanbul-Batna v.v. In addition to this, Turkish Airlines will place its carrier code on Air Algerie's flights on the routes of Alger - Sabiha Gokcen v.v., Oran - Sabiha Gokcen v.v. and Annaba - Istanbul v.v. The agreement might also enable the two carriers to put their codes on the flights to other destinations operated beyond the two capitals in the future.
Air Algerie to Open 13 New International Air Links by 2017

Air Algerie is to open 13 new international air services to the United States, Africa and Europe by late 2017. Air links will be opened between Algiers and Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) and between Algiers and N'djamena (Chad), by the end of 2015 or early 2016, with three flights a week. Six other air services linking Algiers to New York (US), Libreville (Gabon), Douala and Yaounde (Cameroon), Marrakech (Morocco) and Venice (Italy) are due to be launched during the summer 2016. In 2017, four other services are to link Algeria to Conakry (Guinea), Banjul (Gambia), Cotonou (Benin) and Lome (Togo). A second air link is to be opened between Algiers and Istanbul (Turkey) as from 2015, with two to seven flights a week. To cover those new destinations, Air Algerie plans to acquire 16 new aircrafts by the end of 2016 as part of its fleet renewal programme. The programme is aimed at bringing the airline's fleet from 43 airplanes, now, to 59 by late 2016.
