Housing.com announced that its chief marketing officer (CMO) Pratik Seal has resigned from the company less than a year into his tenure. Seal's exit comes at a time when the website is restructuring its top management and strategy team to focus more on product innovation and monetisation of its core business. The company has already hired a new CMO and CFO who are scheduled to join in the next two weeks.

The company does not plan to do acquisitions in the next six months. “From acquisition perspective, we are not looking at throwing insane amount of money for companies that do not deserve such a valuation. We’re getting our act together and looking at acquisitions wisely now, obviously saving ourselves cash,” said an executive. "Our strategy has always been to grow 10X or nothing. In the past 20 days, we have been re-working our strategy. So far we were growing horizontally. Now we are looking at a vertical growth and go deep into our areas of expertise,” said Rishabh Gupta, interim Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer.
Housing.com to Lay Off 600 Employees in the Next Three Months

Housing.com announced that it plans to lay off at least 600 employees in the next three months, as it steps up its focus on core technology and product and tightens its cash burn. The company sais that it was laying off 160 employees in non-core businesses that it plans to shut. After the recent upheavals in its top management, The company has increased focus on revenue-generation and building an advertisement business. It has shut its commercial properties, short stays and land businesses and streamlined focus on large cities and towns while ceasing operations in smaller cities. The company is laying off underperformers in its engineering and product divisions and has fired operations staff it had hired for expanding to new cities.
