Sumitomo Mitsui Mulls Acquisitions

Sumitomo Mitsui Asset Management Company Limited is seeking acquisition opportunities. Sumitomo Mitsui wants to more than double its $131 billion assets under management by 2020 and is looking at acquisitions to help it grow, Kunio Yokoyama, Chief Executive Officer of Sumitomo Mitsui, said. He added that Sumitomo Mitsui was open to both domestic and foreign acquisitions, and was also ambitious in its goals for organic growth.

Sumitomo Mitsui Asset Management Announces Management Changes

Sumitomo Mitsui Asset Management has hired Kunio Yokoyama as new CEO and president, replacing Ryoji Maeda. Meantime, Maeda has been named as chairman of the fund on April 1, 2014. Yokoyama has joined Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation in 1981 and he led the group's merger with Sakura Bank in 2001. He also played a major role in the company's privatization.
