SiBEAM, Inc. announced that Google ATAP has selected SiBEAM as one of the partners to bring touchless gesture sensing to tomorrow’s smart devices. Based on SiBEAM’s millimeter-wave (mmWave) innovations, this technology enables rich hand gesture interactions with smart devices, without the limitations of ever-shrinking screen sizes. SiBEAM’s solution is ideal for Google ATAP given its ability to detect micro-gestures with minimal interference and in very small form factors. At the show, the first Project Soli proof of concept chip was announced, which is a joint technology development between SiBEAM and Google ATAP. SiBEAM announced the release of its new SB6501 and SB6510 UltraGig network processor and RF transceiver chipset. These products expand the company’s indoor gigabit wireless solutions, featuring SiBEAMs proven millimeter wave expertise for the next-generation of Wi-Fi connectivity - 802.11ad (also known as WiGig®). The WiGig-compliant chipset delivers multi-gigabit throughput for ultra-fast data access and 4K ultra high-definition (UHD) video transmissions, and is ideal for use in smartphones, tablets, ultrabooks, access points, and wireless docks.
