Sylvan Source, Inc. Signs on Contract with Electric Power Research Institute to Test the SSI Core

Sylvan Source, Inc. announced that the Electric Power Research Institute is collaborating with SSI to conduct a small pilot test of SSI’s advanced water treatment system. It is anticipated that the pilot plant will be deployed at a host U.S. electric utility in the first half of 2016. First among several potential tests will be the treatment of cooling tower blow down waste streams. The results from the pilot plant testing will be published by EPRI. The SSI Core advanced water treatment system is expected to provide substantial capital and operating cost savings to industrial customers around the world. Independent benchmarks indicate that for a wide range of power generation plant waste streams, and without tapping into the benefits of utilizing recoverable energy or waste heat, the SSI Core system will provide the following performance: 50% or less of the capital costs of comparable conventional technologies; and 50% of the operating expenses of comparable conventional technologies. The SSI Core system technology is covered by multiple patents granted and pending which are owned by SSI and filed in several countries and regions around the world.

SSI recently completed an evaluation validated by an independent industry expert of its HRUT, which cost effectively captures, transfers and reuses a wide range of recoverable energy in industrial plants, including waste heat. SSI’s HRUT is a significant enhancement of the proprietary thermal transfer technology used in its advanced water treatment system, providing substantial capital and operating cost advantages.
