SBI has decided to divest 10% in total and they are exploring up to 8% from State Bank of India (NSEI:SBIN). The balance would therefore, whatever is the number divested by SBI, will be coming from BNP Paribas Cardif S.A.

State Bank of India Mulls IPO For Its SBI Life

State Bank of India (NSEI:SBIN) said that it would begin the process for an initial public offering (IPO) of its life insurance arm, with plans to sell a 10% stake. The bank said in a filing it would explore selling an 8% stake in SBI Life Insurance Company Limited in the IPO, while a senior executive separately said the lender's partner in the joint venture, BNP Paribas Cardif S.A., would sell a 2% stake. "End of September is the earliest that we can contemplate going to the market subject to all regulatory approvals and clearances," Arijit Basu, Chief Executive Officer of SBI Life, told Reuters when asked about the timeline for launching the IPO.
