Tata Sky Limited is seeking financing. Tata Sky has initiated talks with bulge bracket private equity firms to raise up to INR 18 billion after shelving its plans for an initial public offering ( IPO). The loss-making venture will use the capital for its technology upgradation and expansion, said four people with direct knowledge of the process. Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) and Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) have been retained but now the mandate is to raise PE funding, a person, who is a part of the process, said. "The company will now tap private equity players who can offer patient capital and can wait till the company turns profitable,"another person said. "Most of the global investors such as Bain Capital, LLC, The Blackstone Group L.P. (NYSE:BX), Warburg Pincus LLC, TPG Capital, L.P. and General Atlantic LLC have been approached." Economic Times could not independently verify these names. Confirming that the company has shelved its listing plans, Harit Nagpal, Chief Executive Officer of Tata Sky in an SMS response said, "All our cash requirements have been and will continue to be met by existing shareholders."

Tata Sky has announced the appointment of Pallavi Puri as its chief commercial officer and Malay Dikshit as its chief communication officer. In her new role, Puri will be in charge for the commercial function which includes subscription revenue management and enhancing Value Added Services (VAS). Meanwhile, Dikshit will spearhead the brand communications division which comprises of being responsible for developing marketing and communication strategies across traditional and new age mediums. He is also entrusted with taking the brand identity of Tata Sky to the next phase. Puri has worked with Blow Plast and Hutch which later became Vodafone. She handled prepaid, customer value management platform and was last handling Value Added Services for Vodafone, before joining Tata Sky. Prior to joining Tata Sky, Dikshit was the marketing director for Diageo in Moet Hennessey Diageo for Malaysia and Singapore. He has also been associated with Reckitt Benckiser and Cadbury in the past.
Tata Sky to Launch 4K Set Top Box in India

Tata Sky plans to launch 4k set top boxes in India by early next year. On 4 July, Tata Sky showcased a Live telecast with 4K technology on Sony Six HD using a 4k set top box in an event held with Multi Screen Media. The 2014 FIFA World CupTM football match played between France & Germany was telecast on SD, HD and an (4k enabled) UltraHD television from Sony Electronics with live 4k feed of the football match on Sony Six HD. Tata Sky achieved 4K at 8.3 megapixels (3840x2160) during the Live telecast.
