Three banks - including two domestic banks and one headquartered in a neighboring country - are reportedly interested in Serbia's Vojvodjanska banka a.d. Novi Sad, which National Bank of Greece S.A. (ATSE:ETE) plans to sell off. All Greek lenders in Serbia are due to be sold off in 2017, Serbia's former central bank governor Radovan Jelasic, who is now a member of the Greek-based Hellenic Financial Stability Fund's supervisory board, said in January. As well as Vojvodjanska Banka, these are the local operations of Piraeus Bank, Eurobank and Alpha Bank. "After Alpha Bank Srbija, [Vojvodjanska banka] is the second of a total of four Greek banks in Serbia which are on sale. The official sales procedure hasn't started yet and the whole process will last quite a long time. Though, the sale of Vojvodjanska banka is likely and there is also already huge interest in it on the Serbian market," Blic quoted an unnamed source.
