Optomec Showcases Production Additive Manufacturing Systems for Metals and Electronics at AMUG

Optomec announced that the company will feature its new LENS Machine Tool series for 3D printed metals and Aerosol Jet 3D printers for functional Electronics at the Additive Manufacturing User Group Meeting (AMUG) from March 19-23, 2017 in Chicago, Illinois. The Machine Tool Series combines Optomec's industry proven LENS Print Engine technology with conventional CNC Vertical Milling platforms, making metal AM technology affordable to a broader market. Three models of the LENS Machine Tool Series are available, including an industry first Hybrid Controlled Atmosphere system for processing titanium and aluminum. The remaining two LENS Machine Tool Series models include a Hybrid Open Atmosphere and an Additive-only Open Atmosphere systems for processing non-reactive metals. All three standard configurations are designed to reduce manufacturing process times and costs, while enabling improved end product performance and rapid design changes. Entry level pricing for the LENS Machine Tool Series starts at under $250,000. Optomec solutions for printed electronics are based on its production proven Aerosol Jet technology for printing conformal electronic circuitry and components onto 3D structures. The Aerosol Jet process utilizes an innovative aerodynamic focusing technique to collimate a dense mist of material-laden micro droplets into a tightly controlled beam to print features as small as 10 microns or as large as several millimeters in a single pass. A wide assortment of materials can be printed with the Aerosol Jet system, including conductive nano-particle inks, polymers and epoxies, along with dielectrics, ceramics and bio-active materials. Aerosol Jet technology is currently used 24x7 for mass production of 3D printed conformal antennas and sensors for consumer electronics devices.
Optomec Partners with Tongtai to Deliver Hybrid Additive Manufacturing Machines in Taiwan

Optomec announced an agreement with Tongtai Machine & Tool Company. The agreement enables Tongtai to integrate the Optomec LENS Print Engine and add 3D metal printing capability to its AMH-350 (Additive Manufacturing-Hybrid) vertical milling machine. Tongtai will demonstrate this new hybrid additive manufacturing machine at the TIMTOS show in Taiwan from March 7-12 at Booth #J0830. The Optomec LENS family of 3D metal printers has been used in industry for over two decades to cost-effectively repair, rework and manufacture high-performance metal components in materials such as titanium, stainless steel, carbides and nickel based super alloys. The LENS Print Engine delivers Optomec 3D Metal Printing technology in a modular format for rapid integration with metal working platforms such as CNC mills, lathes, robots, custom gantries, or even laser cutting and welding systems. Tongtai will integrate the Optomec LENS Print Engine into its new AMH Hybrid product line. The AMH-350 is a
high accuracy 5-axis machining center. 5-axis machining is an effective process to reduce setups and increase accuracy for multisided and complex parts.
