WPP's GroupM announced the appointment of Brian Lesser to Chief Executive Officer for business in the U.S. and Canada. Lesser was previously Global CEO at Xaxis. He succeeds Kelly Clark who will be transitioning to a new advisory role focused on strategic initiatives with clients and specialty businesses over the coming months. In concert with these changes, GroupM Global Chief Digital Officer, Rob Norman, adds the position of Chairman, North America to his responsibilities.

GroupM announced the appointment of Axel Dumont as President, GroupM Québec. In his new role, Dumont is responsible for all of GroupM’s business activities in Québec, including the work of agencies Mindshare, MEC, MediaCom and Maxus; Xaxis, the world’s leading programmatic buying platform; and Catalyst, Canada’s number one search and social agency. He will ensure that all GroupM companies and their clients benefit from GroupM’s unrivaled scale and expertise in areas including trading, technology, programmatic, search and data analytics. GroupM Names Neil Johnston as Chief Trading Officer for GroupM Canada

GroupM announced the appointment of Neil Johnston as Chief Trading Officer of GroupM Canada. Johnston will oversee the consolidated media buying operations across GroupM's media agencies in Canada, which include Mindshare, MEC, MediaCom and Maxus. He will be responsible for leveraging GroupM's market-leading scale across all media channels to deliver competitive advantage to the agencies clients in areas including pricing, audience measurement, content partnerships and benchmarking. According to RECMA, GroupM commands nearly 30% of the Canadian media market. Johnston will be based in Toronto and will report to GroupM North America CEO Kelly Clark. A media trading veteran, Johnston was Head of Trading for GroupM Ireland for the past three years. Prior to that he held various trading leadership roles for OMD in the UK.
