Vulcan Inc. named Bill Hilf as Vulcan’s new CEO. Bill will join Vulcan December 1, 2016 reporting directly to Paul G. Allen. Paul G. Allen will remain as Chairman and Founder, and look forward to working with Bill in setting Vulcan’s vision and strategy and tackling slate of challenging initiatives. Most recently, Bill served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Hewlett-Packard Enterprise’s Cloud business unit. Prior to joining Hewlett-Packard, Bill was the General Manager of Product Management for Microsoft Azure, and previously led Microsoft’s Technical Computing Group. In that role, he helped develop solutions for a wide range of scientific and engineering challenges, including High Performance Computer Server systems, parallel languages and runtimes, and mathematical modeling tools. Earlier in his career, Bill worked at IBM as a senior architect in Linux and Open Source, and honed his skills at a range of software start-ups. Bill will partner with Paul G. Allen, Barb and the team to continue evolving organization to pursue the extraordinary opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Vulcan Inc. announced that it has hired Chris Orndorff as Chief Investment Officer. Orndorff brings 30 years of investment management and leadership experience to this role, which begins on June 20, 2016. Orndorff will be responsible for identifying investment opportunities and optimizing returns for Vulcan Capital. He will be based in Seattle and will report to Barbara Bennett, Vulcan's President and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to Vulcan, Orndorff was Senior Portfolio Manager for Western Asset Management where he oversaw multi-sector, unconstrained and absolute return portfolios. He was also a member of the board of directors for Mercer Advisors, where he advised on business, investment as well as marketing and sales strategy.
