Lion Air Orders 40 of 72-600 Aircraft

ATR is expected to sign an order for 40 of its 72-600 aircraft with Indonesian airline Lion Air, valued at nearly $1 billion based on catalogue prices. The contract will bring to 100 the number of ATR 72-600 propeller-driven planes ordered by Lion Air, which will become the planemaker's biggest client. Lion Air uses the propeller-driven planes for regional flights among the islands comprising Indonesia and Malaysia. They can land on shorter runways than jets.

PT Lion Mentari Airlines is pushing forward with revived plans for a 2016 initial public offering (IPO) now designed to fund an airport vital to securing its growth, Rusdi Kirana, Chief Executive Officer of PT Lion, said. "We are talking now with banks about an IPO and will use the money to build this hub. Now we are using our own money but hopefully by the first quarter of 2016, the company will do an IPO and will use the money partly for airport expansion," said Kirana.
Lion Mentari Reportedly Eyes Qantas' Stake In Jetstar Asia

PT Lion Mentari Airlines is in discussions with Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) regarding acquiring its 49% stake in Jetstar Asia Airways Pte Ltd, a person familiar with the matter reported. The person stated that the talks to acquire out Qantas’ 49% stake in Jetstar Asia started a few months ago and is still at an early stage. The person added that the transaction would require approval by Singapore regulators. It is not known how much the potential deal would be worth. A Qantas spokesperson called the matter “speculation”. Jetstar and Lion also declined to comment.
