Square 1 Bank Announces Executive Appointments

Square 1 Bank announced that it has strengthened its banking team that serves the Central U.S. with recent new hires. Based in Chicago, Jeff Lampe joins Square 1 as managing director, and will oversee the technology banking practice in the Midwest. He brings nearly twenty years of experience in venture capital, private equity funding and startup operating experience to his new role. Prior to joining Square 1, he served senior roles with two Midwestern-based technology focused venture funds, where he oversaw equity and debt financings and worked with startups as a lead investor, board member and observer. Senior vice president Steven DiPasquale joined Square 1 from Comerica Bank, where he was instrumental in establishing the bank’s technology and life sciences practices in Houston and supported the Austin market. Prior to Comerica, he served in a variety of roles across the Southeast with RBC Bank and Silicon Valley Bank. In addition to his depth of experience, DiPasquale brings an extensive network of investors and entrepreneurs across the U.S.

Square 1 Bank Announces Senior Leadership Promotions

Square 1 Bank announced the following leadership promotions: Art Wasson was promoted from senior vice president, global treasury management, to executive vice president, Venture Capital Services + Global Treasury Management Sales. Based in Durham, Wasson oversees treasury and treasury management services, deposit products and asset management, and the national venture capital services practice. Jason Kranack, former executive vice president, head of human resources, now serves as executive vice president, banking and operations. In this role, he oversees the delivery of Square 1’s products and services and overall division operations. Ken Fugate, an original founder of Square 1, was promoted to managing director, Banking Central. In this role, he manages Square 1’s technology banking and life sciences practices in Texas, the Midwest and Rocky Mountain region from the Denver office. Mara Huntington has assumed the role of managing director, Banking East. Here, she leads the technology and life sciences banking practices in markets along the East Coast, including Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., Durham and Atlanta. Mara previously served as managing director, life sciences. Ryan Dammeyer now serves as head of Structured Finance where Square 1 has their large and most complex portfolio company relationships. Prior to this role, Ryan founded Square 1’s Midwest technology and life sciences practices. David McLaughlin has been promoted to managing director of the Texas region. He brings to this role more than 15 years of experience providing high-growth companies in Austin and the surrounding region with venture banking solutions.

Square 1 Bank Appoints Frank Tower as Division President

Square 1 Bank announced that Frank Tower has been appointed as division president. In his new role, Tower leads the national venture banking practice and will focus on deepening existing relationships and growing the Square 1 client base across the country. A career venture financier, Tower brings nearly 25 years of experience in lending to growth-stage technology and life sciences companies to his new position. He joined Square 1 in January 2014 as executive vice president, and managed the technology and life sciences practices along the East Coast and throughout the Midwest, including offices in Boston, New York, DC, Durham, Chicago and Denver.
