PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk announced earnings results for the third quarter of 2015. The company recorded growth in net income of 127.9% or USD 30.9 million compared to net income for the same period in previous year amounting to USD 13.6 million. Although, Net revenues decreased from USD 1,945.7 million to USD 1,144.0 million or fell 41.2% year on year, the gross profit margin improved from 4.6% to 10.5%. This is due to the improvement of margin between the selling prices of chemical products especially Polyolefins compared with the price of raw materials (Naphtha) still shows a positive trend that has been ongoing since recent quarters.

Chandra Asri is shutting down its 600,000 tonne/year cracker facility in Cilegon for 90 days from 25 September 2015 to complete a $380 million capacity expansion project. The company's production of ethylene, polyethylene (PE) and butadiene (BD) will be halted during the shutdown. The shutdown will allow the company to integrate the new capacities with the current ones. The site will also undergo a routine maintenance during the shutdown period, but the company's polypropylene (PP) and styrene monomer (SM) output will not be affected. The site typically undergoes routine maintenance once every four years, with the last turnaround taking place in 2011. This "tie-in" process is targeted to be completed in December and will boost the site's overall ethylene capacity to 860,000 tonnes/year. The site will also be able to produce 470,000 tonnes/year of propylene from 320,000 tonnes/year previously and its mixed C4 capacity will increase to 315,000 tonnes/year from 220,000 tonnes/year.
