For large-scale retailers deploying thousands of beacons, a longer battery life can generate significant labor cost savings, since batteries don't need to be replaced as frequently. With a six year battery-life, support for multiple beacon communication protocols and a full suite of tools for managing large-scale beacon networks, Swirl's newest beacon hardware offering significantly reduces deployment complexity and maintenance costs for various retailers. Swirl's new beacon complements its software platform that allows retailers and brands to create, manage and deliver in-store mobile marketing campaigns. The introduction of this new beacon follows the company's recent announcement that it has been granted a wide-reaching patent for its innovations in the field of beacon marketing. Swirl's newest beacon leverages the Texas Instruments (TI) SimpleLink CC2640 wireless microcontroller (MCU), which uses 40% less energy than chipsets used by most other beacon vendors. Powered by four AA batteries and an integrated real-time clock with standby mode that allows retailers to turn beacon broadcasts off during non-business hours, the new Swirl beacon offers a battery life that is two to three times that of most other beacons in the market. RetailMeNot, Inc. and Swirl Networks, Inc. announced a strategic partnership to bring in-store promotions using new beacon marketing technology to nearly 20 million RetailMeNot mobile app users and thousands of retailers and brands currently in the RetailMeNot marketplace. The partnership enables more of RetailMeNot's retail and brand partners to engage high intent shoppers by delivering compelling offers to consumers while they shop in specific areas of a brick-and-mortar store. The company will begin to offer Swirl's platform and beacon hardware to its existing retail and brand partners, allowing them to take advantage of a powerful in-store marketing capability. Swirl Networks, Inc. announced that it has entered into a strategic relationship with Motorola Solutions, Inc. The two companies will work together in the areas of product, sales and services to support iBeacon technology rollouts in large-scale retail environments. This announcement follows the recent unveiling of Motorola's MPact Platform for Mobile Marketing, which leverages Swirl to power the beacon marketing capabilities for its indoor locationing platform. Together, Swirl and Motorola Solutions will offer retailers the most scalable enterprise-class beacon marketing solution that is currently available in the market. The collaboration creates a number of immediate benefits for retailers including: Swirl and Motorola will jointly sell Swirl's beacon-based in-store mobile marketing platform as a standalone product as well as in conjunction with Motorola MPact, a unified indoor locationing platform that leverages both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth(R) Smart technology. Swirl's platform will be fully integrated with Motorola's Bluetooth(R) Smart Beacons, providing retailers with the option of purchasing beacons from an established retail partner, while taking advantage of Swirl's cloud platform for creating, managing and analyzing in-store mobile marketing campaigns.
