Xamarin and Microsoft Expand Global Collaboration to Create the New Standard for Enterprise Mobility
Nov 18 15
Xamarin announced an expansion of its global relationship with Microsoft Corp. to help organizations accelerate the entire mobile development lifecycle, from planning and building apps to maintaining them in production. The collaboration includes: integrations between Xamarin and Microsoft’s Office 365, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft Intune, and an enhanced DevOps workflow that integrates Xamarin Platform and Xamarin Test Cloud with Visual Studio Team Services (formerly Visual Studio Online) to allow efficient development and continuous delivery. Xamarin and Microsoft are also launching joint education initiatives, including offering exclusive training benefits for Microsoft Visual Studio subscribers and building on Xamarin’s existing Microsoft Imagine relationship. Xamarin and Microsoft have also weaved together their student offerings, allowing university and high school students to learn mobile development free of charge. Through Microsoft Imagine, eligible students receive complimentary Xamarin and Visual Studio subscriptions, allowing them to build fully native iOS, Android, and Windows apps quickly. Students get everything they need to build, deploy, and debug native apps, transitioning from novice developers into mobile app publishers before graduation. In a 2014 global survey, only 6% of organizations have enough app developers on staff (source ); Microsoft and Xamarin help students acquire the highly in-demand skills necessary to fill this growing shortage and meet enterprise staffing needs. Now, students request Xamarin licenses directly through the DreamSpark catalog and automatically receive Visual Studio 2015, which comes bundled with Xamarin. Additionally, Xamarin and Microsoft have collaborated to provide Microsoft Student Partners (MSP) with mobile training modules to deliver at campuses worldwide.
Xamarin Teams with Oracle to Accelerate End-To-End Enterprise Mobility
Jul 8 15
Xamarin announced a relationship with Oracle that helps enterprises quickly implement high-quality mobile apps and gain a competitive advantage. The Xamarin SDK for Oracle Mobile Cloud Service, currently available, allows enterprises to create scalable mobile solutions for iOS, Android, and Windows, with secure data integration and management. This new SDK, together with Oracle Mobile Cloud Service, a next generation mobile backend-as-a-service (MBaaS), represents a major transformation in making enterprise mobility simple and easy. Successful enterprise mobile apps require a consumer-grade, native frontend and an enterprise-grade secure, connected backend. The combination of the Xamarin Platform with Oracle Mobile Cloud Service makes this possible. Enterprises can create fully native, high-performance iOS, Android and Windows apps in shared code with Xamarin. With just a few lines of code, developers can connect their Xamarin apps to the Oracle Mobile Cloud Service for robust backend access, including enterprise security, push notifications, authentication, backend integrations, data storage, diagnostics and analytics. Enterprises can then continuously test and monitor their apps to help ensure quality, performance and rapid iteration through a combination of Xamarin Test Cloud, Xamarin Insights, and Oracle Mobile Cloud Service's analytics capabilities. This produces apps with the high-quality user experience that is expected, securely connected to enterprise data sources with high scalability for future growth.
Orange Business Services Chooses Xamarin to Simplify the Design of Cross-Platform Applications
Jun 11 15
Orange Business Services and its unit specializing in application development and design, Orange Applications for Business, has signed this partnership agreement with a view to: Reduce costs and accelerate time-to-market: The technology developed by Xamarin combines up to 60% of the developing required, thereby reducing overall design time. Only graphic adaptations are needed to optimize the application for each device. Enhance the user experience: With cross-platform applications, the user experience is consistent across all operating systems. The user can begin a task on their computer in Windows, continue working on it using their tablet in iOS and finish on an Android mobile device. For instance, a company’s sales teams can use multi-OS business applications to access their portfolio of clients or catalogue of products on any device with the same level of ease. The solution allows to connect applications to the main CRM solutions on the market. Account managers can use the application under any circumstances to qualify or take an order.
