Tokio Marine Kiln has appointed Ben Amphlett as deputy underwriter of aviation. As one of the few specialist contingency underwriters in the market, Ben will be responsible for developing a new aviation contingency product for TMK. He will also work on maintaining and developing other syndicate aviation business with a specific emphasis on the airlines and aerospace accounts. Before joining TMK, Ben spent two years at another Lloyd's syndicate writing aviation business. Ben will report into James Walker, Active Underwriter, Aviation.

Tokio Marine Kiln has appointed Paul Culham as group chief underwriting officer with effect from April 1, 2016 subject to regulatory approval. He succeeds Richard Lewis who has decided to step down from the role after more than 30 years with the business. As group cuo, Culham will lead the strategy and management of all TMK Group underwriting activities across its Lloyd's and Company platforms, comprising a book of business with an annual gross written premium of £1.7 billion. He brings nearly 30 years' experience in the insurance industry to the role having joined TMK through the Kiln graduate scheme in 1987.

Culham has been hired as new chief underwriting officer (CUO) of its Lloyd's platform by Tokio Marine Kiln. Earlier, Culham has worked at the firm since 1987. Peter Merton will succeed Culham as active underwriter of both the marine & special risks and enterprise risks divisions.
