Three Tier-1 Global Operators Deploy Openwave Mobility's Subscriber Data Management Solutions
Nov 19 15
Openwave Mobility announced that three Tier-1 operators have deployed its Subscriber Data Management (SDM) solutions. This validates the need for solutions that can help operators manage and monetize the Internet of Things (IoT) along with their subscriber data. According to Infonetics Research, the worldwide SDM market grew 29% in 2014 over 2013, to $1.4 billion. And ABI Research estimates 41 billion connected devices by 2020. Reflecting this recent growth, Openwave Mobility maintains the large SDM/UDR (User Data Repository) deployment in the world with over 130 million subscribers at a Tier-1 operator in North America. The SDM solutions are also being deployed with a Tier-1 operator in Japan, and one of the largest group operators based in Europe. SDM is being utilized by these operators to address critical use cases such as UDR and identity management solutions. Some of these operators are now looking to deploy IoT devices.
Openwave Mobility Announces New Solution, Secure Traffic Manager
Mar 3 15
Openwave Mobility announced a new solution, Secure Traffic Manager, leveraging its NFV-enabled Integra, that optimizes encrypted mobile video and audio streaming traffic. Network operators will now benefit from a comprehensive solution that optimizes not just the TCP/IP transport layer, but also the video and audio application layer for encrypted traffic to maximize network utilization. Operators can now achieve 50% data savings on encrypted HD video, delivering an improved user experience for congested networks without compromising subscriber privacy. Encrypted traffic is estimated to be 30% of the data flow and rising. With Secure Traffic Manager, carriers can dynamically recognize and fingerprint bandwidth-hungry objects such as High Definition video, audio or apps to deliver optimized traffic via the Radio Access Network (RAN). The smart traffic management capabilities reduce the amount of data needed to stream large files and allow application downloads to be performed efficiently
across the mobile network.
Sandvine, MATRIXX Software, Openwave Mobility and PeerApp Announce the Creation of NFV.net
Mar 2 15
Sandvine, MATRIXX Software, Openwave Mobility and PeerApp announced the creation of NFV.net, a forum of technology vendors dedicated to fostering adoption of network functions virtualization (NFV) and promoting best-of-breed implementation practices through an NFV reference implementation in this rapidly emerging field. NFV.net is an invitation-only alliance of best-of-breed vendors, with only one or two key players representing each key network function. Members are selected both for their technology and thought leadership, as well as full commitment to delivering a real-life, demonstrable, pre-integrated solution with other partners in NFV.net. NFV.net' s mission is to provide pre-integrated, commercially available NFV solutions to communications service providers (CSPs) of all sizes. Member companies will work hands-on with CSPs to develop, test, and implement virtualization strategies in order to help them navigate the uncertainties that virtualization presents to the telecom industry at this early stage of adoption. The NFV.net website will feature a use case library highlighting reference implementations from participant companies and provides a mechanism for some of the technical minds to share their lessons learned about the challenges and opportunities virtualization presents for both operators and vendors.
