RCom-Aircel Merger May Conclude In July
Jun 7 16
The two-way merger between Reliance Communications Ltd. (NSEI:RCOM) and Aircel Limited is on track, claim sources close to the deal. Since the merger is between two different entities with different technologies even, the merger will take some more time to conclude. Both the companies have extended their exclusive discussion period by a month, during which they hammer out details of a potential merger. Once the due diligence is over, RCom will carve out its wireless business and merge it with Aircel's wireless business, which will result in a new entity/brand altogether. According to sources close to the deal, "The merger of RCom with Aircel is not contingent on the tower sale. The merger is on track and Aircel and RCom will collectively transfer INR 280 billion of debt (INR 140 billion each) to the new entity. With a revenue market share of 6% each, the new entity will have a double-digit revenue market share and a customer base of 150-160 million."
