Aircel Limited Key Developments

RCom Open To Selling 100% Of Tower Unit To Brookfield

Reliance Communications Limited (NSEI:RCOM) is in discussions with Brookfield Property Partners L.P. (NYSE:BPY) to sell up to 100% stake in its tower subsidiary instead of the 51% it had earlier agreed upon. The international tower company is also engaged in a revaluation of the deal because of the failure of the merger between Aircel and RCom. Confirming the development, Punit Garg, executive director of Reliance Communications, said, "We are in deep discussions with Brookfield and are open to the option of selling up to 100% of the business.

Reliance Communications Called Of Its Merger With Aircel

Reliance Communications Limited (NSEI:RCOM) has called off the merger of its wireless services business with Aircel Limited, citing regulatory delays and opposition from some creditors, in a development that will further impede its efforts to pare its huge debt. RCom said it is now looking at alternative ways to reduce its debt, including sale of real estate assets and "optimization of spectrum", the company said in a filing to stock exchanges on October 1, 2017.

Aircel And Reliance Merger May Be On Hold Beyond September 30

The merger between Aircel Limited and Reliance Communications Limited (NSEI:RCOM) is facing multiple roadblocks due to which Reliance Communications’ debt-reduction plan could be in trouble. An insolvency petition has been filed by Ericsson against Reliance Communications with the National Company Law Tribunal, delays in getting approval from the Department of Telecom and an ongoing CBI investigation in the Aircel-Maxis case. The merger may be put on hold beyond September 30, 2017.
