Maskeliya Plantations PLC announced the appointment of Mr. J LA Fernando as non executive director. He is a Fellow Member of the National Institute of Plantation Management and holds Diplomas in Plantation Management, Human Rights, Diplomacy & International Relations, Conflict Resolutions and Negotiation, Skills. He also serves as a Member of the Sri Lanka Tea Board's Panel for monitoring of Tea Auction, Direct Sales and Imported Tea. Mr. Fernando counts over 38 years experience in the Management of Plantations having begun his planting career in 1977. He has served as Superintendent of Mahagastota, Holyrood, Welimada and Somerset estates before he took charge as General Manager of Horana Plantations in 1992. He joined Keelis Plantations in 2000 for a period of 4 years and served as a Visiting Agent for many Plantations. He has also functioned as Director-Operations of Kegalle Plantations, Maskeliya Plantations, Watawala Plantations and Chief Executive Officer of New Vithanakande Tea Factory Ltd.

Maskeliya Plantations PLC announced that Prof. Roshan Prtyankara Perera has been appointed to the Directorate, as an independent Director with effect from October 15, 2014. Recently, Prof. Roshan Perera co-founded the Institute for Combinatorial Advanced Scientific Research & Education (KDU-CARE) at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. He is also working as the Director at the KDU-CARE and is pursuing his research in the development of de novo approaches towards understand of complex scientific and biotechnological problems using technologies. In addition, he is the co-founding Director of Care Technology Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. He is a member of the National Council on Biotechnology, the Ministry for Scientific Affairs, Sri Lanka.
