Matheson has executed an agreement for the purchase of eighteen air separation plants in sixteen locations, two Nitrous Oxide plants, four CO2 plants, and related assets from Air Liquide in the United States. The company noted that the agreement also includes its purchase of three Airgas Inc. retail stores in Alaska. Airgas is an Air Liquide company. The sale of these assets is required by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission in connection with Air Liquide's recently closed acquisition of Airgas.

Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, or MCC, and Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corporation, or TNSC, have announced plans to market a dehydration system using the MCC-developed ZEBREX zeolite membranes for bioethanol production processes in the US. MCC provides the zeolite membranes and modules and its group company, Mitsubishi Chemical Engineering Corporation, manufactures the dehydration system. TNSC will support marketing and business development activities via its wholly-owned US subsidiary, Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc. (MTG).
