Protective Life Announces Executive Changes

Protective Life Corporation has named Richard Bielen, the company's current vice chairman and CFO, as the new president and COO. In his new role, Mr. Bielen will have added responsibilities for life and annuity sales and information technology in addition to his current management responsibility for acquisitions, the asset protection segment, financial reporting, and internal audit. Michael G. Temple has been named Executive vice president, Finance and Risk and Chief Risk Officer. Mr. Temple's responsibilities will continue to include enterprise risk management while expanding his responsibilities to include product actuarial, corporate capital modeling, treasury and finance activities for Protective. Mr. Temple has served as Executive vice president and Chief Risk Officer since 2012. Steven G. Walker has been named Executive vice president, CFO and Controller. He will continue leading the accounting function at Protective in addition to his position as CFO. Mr. Walker joined Protective Life in 2002 and has served as the Chief Accounting Officer and Controller since 2003. D.
