Cooley LLP announced that it has launched a UK practice in London. Cooley's new office will include 20 partners and more than 55 lawyers and other professionals in total. Justin Stock, the former head of Morrison & Foerster's London corporate practice, will lead the new office.

Cooley Opens London Office for Tech and Media

Cooley has opened its first European office in London, with a focus on technology and media. Led by Justin Stock, formerly of Morrison & Foerster, the British office will take on 20 partners and 55 lawyers and other workers, and specialize in international disputes including mergers and acquisitions. The London office's intellectual property and litigation team cited the technical infrastructure, skilled workforce and 'competitive tax regime' as reasons for the move.

Cooley LLP Announces Re-Joining of Erik Edwards as Partner

Erik Edwards, a former Cooley business partner who left in 2011 to serve as General Counsel and later as the Managing Director of the family office of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, has re-joined Cooley as a partner in its business department. Edwards, who first joined the company as a summer associate in 1999, and became a partner in 2009, will reside in the firm's Palo Alto office where he will re-establish a practice focused on the representation of emerging growth companies, investors and public companies on a wide range of matters including financings, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance matters.
