Goya Foods Inc. will close its Bethpage distribution operation in July after 17 years on Long Island and move the jobs to New Jersey. The plant's 57 workers can apply for jobs in New Jersey. Those who decide not to go will receive a severance package based on years of service. The closing comes amid a $500 million global expansion in the past 10 years that includes a new headquarters in Jersey City that will open later this month. The company is currently headquartered in Secaucus. Goya, which bills itself as the Hispanic-owned food company, has 26 facilities throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Spain.

Goya Foods, Inc. announced that it will open a new distribution center in Georgia to aid with the expansion of their business in the southeast region. Located at 4005 Haworth Parkway, McDonough, GA. The new Goya Foods facility is expected to spur economic growth and job creation for the region. The custom designed, energy-efficient facility will be the main distribution center for the entire state of Georgia, along with parts of South Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee. The facility spans over 150,000 square feet, and the space allows for future expansion of an additional 50,000 square feet.
Goya Foods Appoints Luis Tejada as Vice President of Sales

Goya Foods announced the appointment of Luis Tejada as Vice President of Sales. In his role as Vice President of Sales at Goya, Luis will oversee Goya's direct sales delivery (DSD) system of over 2,200 products. He will focus efforts on strategic development and execution of sales and initiatives, while isolating the diversity of each of the unique Latin cultures and addressing those needs from a business perspective. Luis returns to Goya with 23 years of experience in strategic business development and project management. He served as Vice President of Marketing and Development at White Rose Food. Prior to White Rose, Luis was Regional Strategy Manager at Reckitt Benckiser Inc. where he managed the branding, sales and marketing of 17 specialty heritage brands.
