Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP announced that Simeon Papacostas has joined the firm as a partner in its Chicago office. He will be a member of the firm’s growing Intellectual Property department as well as the Intellectual Property Litigation and Life Science Litigation practice groups. Papacostas focuses his practice on patent litigation in federal courts, representing clients in various sectors, including: life sciences, such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology; drilling and oilfield services; computer hardware; consumer products; and video games. Additionally, he represents clients for post-grant proceedings before the patent office and advises on patent-related antitrust issues and trademark counseling. Before joining Honigman, Papacostas was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis. In addition to his thriving practice, he was also active in pro bono work, advising small businesses and individuals on trademark and copyright matters, as well as matters involving international human rights violations, immigration law and animal rights.

Tracy T. Larsen has joined Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn as co-chair of the Mergers and Acquisitions practice of the firm's Corporate Department. Larsen will be based in, and the managing partner of, the firm's Grand Rapids office, the firm's first office in the city. Having one of the most active corporate practices in the Midwest, Larsen represents clients in an array of matters, including M&A, joint ventures, takeover defense, corporate finance transactions and restructurings, corporate governance and federal securities law issues. He has steered hundreds of transactions on both a domestic and international level involving tens of billions in trade value.

Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP announced that it is continuing to expand its Chicago presence with the addition of two high-profile partners in its litigation and tax departments. Former Winston & Strawn partner David Koropp joins company's stellar team of litigators, including those from the high-end litigation boutique of Schopf & Weiss, acquired by Honigman in June. Ilan Napchan joins the firm's tax practice from Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Trial lawyer Koropp will add increased weight to Honigman's litigation department. Koropp is a member of the Lawyer's Advisory Committee of the Innocence Project. Napchan will serve as a key player in corporate merger and acquisition deals, giving Honigman greater versatility in this area. His practice will focus on the tax aspects of complex domestic and cross-border transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, joint ventures and recapitalizations. Before attending law school, Napchan worked at both Bank of America and Goldman Sachs.
