INVISTA Conducts Controlled Shutdown of ADN Plant in Victoria, Texas

INVISTA announced that the company is conducting a controlled shutdown of its adiponitrile plant in Victoria, Texas. The company reported emissions on 5 April - 6 April as a result of the venting of ammonia and hydrogen cyanide to the ADN operating flare, according to the filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The venting is being performed in a controlled manner and will cease immediately after the controlled shutdown is complete. The company did not cite a reason for the controlled shutdown.
INVISTA Expands Production of TERRIN Aliphatic Polyols into Europe

INVISTA announced that the company is bringing production of its TERRIN polyols to Europe via its facility in Vlissingen, The Netherlands. The site produced its first commercial TERRIN polyols in late 2014 and completed the requirements for REACH registration in Europe. TERRIN aliphatic polyester polyols contain a minimum of 50% recycled content--with some containing renewable content, as well. Formulators can use TERRIN polyols in lieu of or in combination with conventional polyether or polyester polyols to formulate a variety of polyurethane products.
INVISTA Introduces Raptor Nylon Pipe

INVISTA introduced Raptor nylon pipe, the first nylon 6,6 homogenous single wall line pipe that withstands temperatures up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit and pressures up to 500 PSI, while also being fast to install. During the development of the new line pipe, the company's technical team kept corrosive liquids, impacts, abrasions, high temperatures, and daily wear and tear from the oil patch top-of-mind. Raptor nylon pipe comes coiled in up to 2,000-foot sections that are ready for the ditch and suitable for applications ranging from multiphase flow lines to low pressure natural gas gathering and water transportation. Its product portfolio includes 2-inch, 3-inch, 4-inch and 6-inch IPS and SDRs 7, 9 and 11. Six-inch pipe is expected to be available in fourth quarter 2014. Key features of Raptor nylon pipe include: Performs in temperatures up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit; Maximum operating pressure up to 500 PSI; Fast installation with coils; Requires no de-rating for liquid hydrocarbons; Has better abrasion resistance compared with steel and high-density polyethylene; and Has better impact resistance than fiberglass, HDPE and their composite pipes.
