Accor And HNA Reportedly Bids For Carlson Brands

According to unnamed sources compiled by Bloomberg, Accor S.A. (ENXTPA:AC) and HNA Group Co., Ltd. are among companies considering bids for Carlson, Inc.'s Hotel group which includes the Radisson and Park Plaza brands, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. The sale of Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group could fetch up tpo $2 billion as the buyer is expected to be chosen from the bidders by first half of 2016.

Carlson Reportedly Explores Sale Of Hotel Business

Carlson, Inc. is exploring a sale, among other strategic alternatives, Reuters repoted citing Wall Street Journal. A merger or a partnership are the other alternatives Carlson, Inc. is exploring, citing people familiar with the matter. Carlson has hired Morgan Stanley to evaluate alternatives, Wall Street Journal said. Carlson, Inc. was not immediately available for comment.

Carlson Appoints Three New Board Members

Carlson has announced the appointment of Laura Born, Sam Gilliland and Scott Gage to the board of directors. Born currently serves as chair of the boards of trustees of two registered investment companies, Columbia Acorn Trust and Wanger Advisors Trust. In addition, she is an associate adjunct professor of finance at the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business. Born worked for 16 years at JP Morgan Chase & Co. (until June 2007) as an investment banker in both New York and Chicago. Gage is currently chair of the Carlson Real Estate board. He is also co-chair and co-CEO of Carlson Holdings Inc., and serves on the boards of Gage Marketing and The StepUp Program at Augsburg College. He is also vice president of the board of the Curtis L. Carlson Family Foundation. Prior to his current board roles, he worked in strategic marketing for Gage Group. Gilliland is currently an executive partner with Siris Capital Group, a technology-focused private equity firm. He previously served as chairman and CEO of Sabre for nearly 10 years. Gilliland also serves on the boards of Rackspace Hosting Inc. and Gogo Inc.
