McDermott Will & Emery and Olleros Abogados Intends to Target the Cuban Market with Full-Service Venture in La Habana

McDermott Will & Emery has announced intentions to target the Cuban market with a full-service venture in La Habana, set up through an agreement with Olleros Abogados. Through the joint operation, both firms plan to provide a full-service approach for clients doing business both from and into Cuba. Olleros Abogados founding partner Jaime Olleros said that the office opening will occur 'as soon as the Cuban system allows international law firms to establish offices in the country'. McDermott has been working with lawyers at Olleros for several years on a broad range of matters, including corporate work, M&A, restructuring arbitration, litigation and tax issues. The firms expect to 'exploit common synergies' for its American, Spanish and European clients on Cuba-related matters. Olleros Abogados is set to open a Cuba desk in its Madrid office in the meantime to handle its growing Cuba-related work.

McDermott Will & Emery LLP is expanding in Dallas. Two new teams joined the firm. One focuses on mergers and acquisition and the other on technology and outsourcing. The new Dallas M&A team includes three partners: Wilson Chu, who will lead the Dallas M&A team, focuses on private domestic and cross-border M&A transactions for large U.S. and international companies. Chu is well known throughout the U.S. M&A community for having created the American Bar Association's M&A Deal Points Studies. Soren Lindstrom, who represents clients in complex U.S. and international mergers and acquisitions, tender offers and strategic alliances. He also advises clients in capital market transactions and corporate governance matters. Greg Hidalgo advises private equity and other clients in complex public and private M&A transactions, joint ventures, capital markets transactions and corporate governance matters. Hidalgo's clients include consumer products, energy, health care, manufacturing, retail and technology. The U.S. technology and outsourcing team includes three partners: Jason Krieser and Shawn Helms will lead the new U.S. Technology and Outsourcing practice, which advises Fortune 1,000 companies and global service providers on complex outsourcing and technology transactions.
