Charter Wire Plans to Expand Factory in Milwaukee's Menomonee Valley Industrial Center, Creating About 35 Jobs, to Be Completed in 2015

Charter Wire is proceeding with the long-planned expansion of its factory in Milwaukee's Menomonee Valley Industrial Center, creating about 35 jobs. Charter Wire will add 69,000 square feet and new production equipment to its 160,000-square-foot factory. That proposed expansion is being driven by greater demand for pipes from the oil and natural gas industries. The $20 million project consists of about $14 million in new equipment and $6 million for the building expansion. The group is providing federal New Markets Tax Credits to help finance the project. Other financing is coming from Charter Wire and JPMorgan Chase. The project will increase Charter Wire's workforce at the building from 116 employees to as many as 151 fulltime employees, according to information filed with MEDC. The expansion plans were first disclosed in 2013. Construction will begin soon, with completion in 2015.
