Insitu, FireWhat, Esri Join Forces in Fighting Wildfires with Eyes in the Sky

Insitu announced its partnership with FireWhat, and Esri, the world leader in spatial analytics. Through this partnership, aerial reconnaissance for fighting wildfires will be provided by Insitu's INEXA Solutions, comprised of INEXA Control, Insitu air vehicles including the ScanEagleand payloads including the new High Accuracy Photogrammetry (HAP) payload. The INEXA Solutions professional aerial remote sensing services group will work with FireWhat's fire professionals, using its geographic information system (GIS) customized for firefighters, and hosted on Esri's ArcGIS platform. Currently, fire incident commanders must work with fire line information that often is 12-to-24 hours old — while a fire continues to burn. Now, Insitu's ScanEagle UAS can "fly the gaps" — both day and night — using its military-grade electro-optical (EO) cameras during daylight, and infrared (IR) cameras for nighttime imaging. Flying at these times will provide previously unavailable data collection, analysis, and delivery of decision-making information to manned firefighting fleets operating in difficult terrain, smoke, or temperature inversion situations. The comprehensive spatial analytic capabilities of ArcGIS leverage FireWhat's unique ability to effectively fight wildfires using technology in an entirely new way. Integrating Insitu's proven aerial remote sensor imagery with FireWhat's gold-standard GIS will provide near-real time live, web-based video feed of thermal images to FireWhat's ground-based mobile command centers. The Infrared/thermal camera technology penetrates smoke or darkness, gathering and disseminating georeferenced still images of points of interest, and allows FireWhat's data to quickly create geo-referenced high-resolution mosaics in Portable Document Format (PDF), and digital fire progression/suppression maps. Combining these exciting new technologies will dramatically increase strategic and tactical awareness and decision-making for firefighters and first responders. Insitu, FireWhat, and Esri's efforts are supported by HP, Inc., (HP) hardware, including servers, laptops, and printers. This collective partnership represents expert knowledge and resources that now are combined to deliver a system surpassing any fire emergency and disaster tracking solution currently available in North America.

Esri has announced a collaboration with Microsoft Corporation to provide greater access to land cover mapping technologies through a newly aligned grant process. Land cover mapping is a critical part of conservation planning, but current methods for collecting detailed geographic data are highly labor-intensive. Advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) can help but are not yet widely accessible to those on the front lines of conservation and mapping. The ability to analyze the vast quantities of data present in environment is critical, and this collaboration allows conservationists to do their job more accurately than ever before on a wider scale.

M-Files Corporation announced a partnership with Esri to integrate Esri ArcGIS mapping technology with M-Files to provide seamless, in-context access to important documents and information residing in other systems directly from the ArcGIS map-based user interface. The combined M-Files and Esri solution allows users to easily find, access and manage information using intuitive maps, aerial photography and spatially-related data. M-Files seamlessly bridges the gap between the ArcGIS mapping system and other databases and systems such as ERP, records and asset management, enterprise content management (ECM) systems and more. This moves beyond 3D GIS and simply locating documents on a map up through 6D analysis and decision support with real-time integration of budget, time, task resourcing and other variables directly within the mapping interface. This enables organizations that manage location-based information, such as governmental agencies, energy producers, logistics and distribution companies, utilities and others, to do so faster and more efficiently. IGas Energy uses M-Files and Esri ArcGIS together to create a GIS-based "visual information" portal through which all of the company's information associated with each oil and gas producing facility is easily and quickly accessible. Information related to production, land and operations can be efficiently accessed and searched using the GIS interface that displays it related to wells on a the map. The solution provides traceability and versioning of all documents and related data, ensuring users are always accessing the most up-to-date information. The combined M-Files Esri solution is also being used by the City of Vantaa in Finland, the location of the Helsinki International airport, for the management of information related to land use, town planning, construction supervision and municipal services.
