ExxonMobil Chemical Co. Expects Closing of its Akron Offices on South Main Street by the End of the Year 2015

ExxonMobil Chemical Co. announced that it anticipates closing its Akron offices on South Main Street by the end of the year 2015, with fewer than 50 people to lose their jobs. The company announced the expansion of the Houston campus in 2012 and said that people would begin moving there in phases starting in 2014. Stephen D. Pryor, president, ExxonMobil Chemical Company and vice president of Exxon Mobil Corporation, has elected to retire on January 1, 2015, after more than 44 years of service. It is anticipated that the board of directors of Exxon Mobil Corporation will appoint Neil A. Chapman as president of ExxonMobil Chemical Company and elect him a vice president of the corporation, effective Jan. 1, 2015. Chapman is currently senior vice president, Polymers, ExxonMobil Chemical Company. Chapman, 52, joined Esso Chemical in 1984 at the Esso refinery in Fawley, UK. He advanced through a series of engineering, operations, planning and marketing roles in various chemicals affiliates in the United Kingdom, Belgium, United States and Hong Kong.

ExxonMobil Chemical Announces New Projects to Expand Specialty Hydrocarbon Fluid Production

ExxonMobil Chemical announced that the company is increasing production of its high performance hydrocarbon fluids by about 10% through expansion projects at its Singapore and Antwerp facilities. The additional capacity, designed to meet rapidly expanding global demand for hydrocarbon fluids and extend the company's worldwide supply capability, will begin producing by mid-2015 and be complete in 2016. The expansion projects, which upgrade refining streams into specialty chemical products, are in progress and build on other recently announced large investment projects in the company's Singapore and Antwerp facilities. The company has expanded production in Singapore to meet expected demand across the Asia Pacific region. ExxonMobil's capacity expansion in Antwerp is among other investments totaling more than $2 billion over the last decade at the facility. The expanded hydrocarbon fluids unit will further strengthen ExxonMobil's integrated downstream and chemical portfolio in northwest Europe to better compete in the global industry environment.
