Cask Announces Integration with Microsoft Azure
Sep 29 16
Cask announced integration with Microsoft Azure HDInsight at Strata+Hadoop World 2016 in New York. Cask Data Application Platform (CDAP), the first unified integration platform for big data that cuts down the time to production for big data by 80%, has been certified for Azure and is now available on Azure HDInsight. The 100% open source Cask Data Application Platform (CDAP) accelerates time to value from Hadoop through standardized APIs, pre-built templates and visual interfaces. Furthermore, it increases efficiencies through reusable and portable components. CDAP also includes two built-in self-service extensions, which integrate with the rest of the Azure and Microsoft stack. Cask Hydrator provides code-free, drag-and-drop data ingestion and processing pipelines and includes connectors to Azure Storage, SQL Server, other cloud services, and on-premises storage and database solutions. Cask Tracker enables self-service data discovery across all data ingested with Hydrator with automatic metadata, audit and lineage across all databases, connectors and pipelines. The upcoming release of CDAP 4 introduces Cask Market, a "big data app store." Cask Market offers customers pre-built Hadoop solutions, reusable templates and ready-to-go data pipelines, such as S3 to Azure Storage, SQL Server to HBase for HDInsight, and others, making them productive with big data in minutes rather than hours, days or weeks.
Cask Partners with Tableau to Deliver Rapid Insights from Big Data
Sep 28 16
Cask announced it is partnering with Tableau. The partnership brings Tableau's powerful visual analytics platform through an ODBC connector to the Cask Data Application Platform (CDAP), the first unified integration platform for big data. This integration enables organizations to easily analyze and glean insights from big data with both CDAP and Tableau. CDAP makes it easy to ingest any type of data from any type of source into Hadoop and automatically integrates with Hive to make it available for SQL access. With the CDAP ODBC connector, enterprise users can then quickly and easily explore that data with Tableau's visual analytics solution.
Cloudera and Cask Announces Strategic Business and Deep Technology Collaboration Agreement to Drive Roadmap of Joint Product Innovation
Feb 11 15
Cloudera and Cask announced that they have entered into a strategic business and deep technology collaboration agreement, including an equity investment from Cloudera. Together the two open source leaders will drive a roadmap of joint product innovation between Cloudera Enterprise and the Cask Data Application Platform (CDAP). They will also collaborate to encourage and enable developers to more rapidly and easily build applications on Hadoop, and jointly work with customers to deliver high value solutions for Hadoop. In addition to the technology and business collaboration, Cloudera will join Cask's Strategic Advisory Board. The strategic collaboration and the equity investment are subject to standard closing conditions, including customary regulatory approvals. Increasingly, organizations are looking to create better business value by turning data analytics directly into action using Hadoop. Cask and Cloudera refer to this approach as operational analytics, and the applications that incorporate data analytics as data applications. The primary goal of the partnership is to help customers overcome the challenges in building data applications, and to accelerate the value creation from operational analytics. The first results of the partnership will be immediately available to customers. Cask has released version 2.7 of CDAP with optimizations for Cloudera Enterprise built-in. Specifically, Cloudera customers will be able to install, launch, and monitor CDAP directly from Cloudera Manager. In addition, CDAP includes capabilities to more easily ingest real-time or batch data into Impala for high performance SQL queries. These innovations are just a start - Cask and Cloudera are committed to improving the experience for developers to deliver data applications for operational analytics.
