Stoel Rives LLP announced that Ryan C. Wood has joined its Sacramento office as of Counsel in the firm’s construction practice. Wood will advise primarily construction industry clients on business transactional, compliance and litigation matters. Wood served 20 years in the United States Navy and Navy Reserve, from 1993 to 2013. Wood served in a number of roles, including as command Intelligence Chief for Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Eighteen, where he was responsible for threat assessment and mission planning. Prior to joining Stoel Rives, Wood practiced at Downey Brand LLP in Sacramento for nearly 10 years. He currently serves as chair of the board of directors of Youth Development Network, and is an adjunct law professor for his alma mater, McGeorge School of Law. Wood is licensed to practice law in both California and Nevada.

Schlunz - formerly the firm s Chief Information Officer - assumes the role of Chief Innovation Officer. The appointments reflect a strong commitment by the firm to recruit and retain the most talented lawyers and aggressively pursue innovations designed to deliver great client value and efficiency. With Jill King's appointment, Stoel Rives becomes one of the first U.S. law firms to establish a chief executive role for its recruitment and professional development functions. As Chief Lawyer Development Officer, King is responsible for the management, strategic vision and execution of the firm s lawyer recruitment and professional development initiatives. She also oversees the firm s diversity and inclusion program, working with offices firm-wide to develop a more diverse workforce and promote a culture of inclusion. In appointing Ryan Schlunz to the position of Chief Innovation Officer, Stoel Rives becomes a law firm pioneer by integrating cross-functional innovation strategy at the senior management level. In his new role, Schlunz is responsible for driving innovation in all phases of the firm s client service delivery and business operations.
