Additionally, he has represented clients on international tax issues that arise with respect to investments in the United States by non-US investors (including investors subject to special US tax treatment), as well as investments outside of the United States by US persons. Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP announced that Robert M. Masters has joined the firm as a partner in the Litigation Department, resident in the Washington, DC office. Mr. Masters' practice is focused on patent litigation, specifically in the technology sector. He routinely handles patent, trade secret, copyright, and trademark/trade dress litigations. In addition to his litigation experience, Mr. Masters has worked on mergers and acquisitions, advising clients with respect to intellectual property assets and portfolio management and monetization; he has also represented clients in licensing negotiations. Mr. Masters further expands Fried Frank's Litigation Department and in particular the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice, which has been growing since last year when Scott W. Doyle and Jonathan R. DeFosse joined the Firm in its Washington, DC office, and Jeffrey I.D. Lewis joined the Firm's New York office. Before joining Fried Frank, Mr. Masters was a partner in Paul Hastings'Intellectual Property Group.
