Eltek Launches 400VDC Power Feed Solution for Central Office Powering of Remote Wireline or Wireless Broadband Systems

Eltek announced the High Voltage DC (HVDC) Power Feed solution that provides central office (CO) powering of remote wireline and wireless broadband telecom equipment. New streaming video and other high-width applications are driving a need for service providers to install many new remote broadband equipment cabinets. Eltek’s new power solution offers these service providers an alternative providing a much faster rollout and reduced total cost of ownership. By centralizing the DC power equipment, batteries and management in the CO, the new solution cuts costs by not requiring local grid power and by replacing local DC power systems and batteries. Thus, the required power cable can be laid with the existing or new fiber-optic cable that serves the remote location, making it applicable for a wide range of installations. Using the HVDC Power Feed solution, mains DC power is converted to 400VDC – a voltage level that can be transmitted long distances with very low losses – at the CO. A second voltage conversion takes place at the point of use, where Eltek’s DC/DC converters transform the 380VDC /400VDC back down to 54VDC /48VDC. The Eltek 380V Remote Power solution begins with the existing 48VDC power system and battery in the central site. From there, the 48VDC power is converted to 380VDC through Flatpack2 HE DC/DC converters. The 380VDC power then passes through a distribution box providing the necessary protection and safety functions, before being distributed to the load in the remote location. At the remote site, another set of Eltek DC/DC converters brings the voltage down to 48VDC for the telecom equipment. Depending on the power consumption in each site, and number of remote sites connected to each 380VDC cable, the distance from the central site to the remote site can be up to 5km. Typically the power cable will be installed together in the same conduit with fiber optics providing the data capacity to the DSLAMs or base stations in the remote sites. Support tools have been developed to assist network planners in dimensioning power systems, distributions and cable dimensioning. Eltek Launches Flatpack2 48 Volt/3000 Watt Rectifier for Data Center Applications

Eltek announced availability of the Flatpack2 48/3000 HE DC1, a new high-efficiency (HE) rectifier that provides reliable power for data center applications requiring front-end server power with or without battery backup. DC power is just emerging as a lower-cost, higher-efficiency solution for data centers, supplementing or fully replacing the use of AC power. DC power benefits data center operations by providing high-efficiency power conversion and reduced losses in energy transmission. This higher efficiency means power systems can be more compact with very high power density and can significantly reduce capex and total cost of ownership (TCO). The Flatpack2 48/3000 HE DC1 rectifier delivers on this promise with patented, high-efficiency technology that enables up to 97.2% peak efficiency levels. The rectifier provides uninterrupted 48V, either in combination with a battery on the output or in a battery-less application with redundant mains feeds. It also features ORing FET protection on output, ideal for battery-less application. Each Flatpack2 48/3000 HE DC1 unit measures 4.25” W x 1.61” H x 13” D and weighs only four pounds. The rectifier is compatible with all Flatpack2 modular power shelves, providing 12kW per 1U height in a 19" wide rack. This allows full flexibility to match current and future business demands, and enables data center applications to be scaled from a minimum of 3kW to a maximum of 3MW. The system also provides N+1 redundancy, at a minimum cost, for resilience and reliability, and a low mean time to repair.
Eltek Announces the Flatpack S Wallbox

Eltek announced the Flatpack S Wallbox, a new high-efficiency (HE) power system with flexible power configuration for small-load industrial, marine and rail applications. Eltek’s Flatpack S Wallbox is a new product that utilizes Eltek’s compact, Flatpack S high-efficiency rectifiers, which typically achieve AC/DC power conversion efficiency levels above 95% at 48V DC output. The Flatpack S Wallbox was designed for distributed power applications in industrial, railway and marine applications. It is ideal for control and protection, SCADA, emergency lighting or diesel start applications. There is also a version of the product that fulfills the DNV 2.4 standard for shipboard communications and safety and automation systems. The modular system measures only 271 mm wide by 370 mm tall and 193 mm deep. It can accept one or two Flatpack S rectifiers, with 230V single phase input between 85 and 300VAC/DC. 24V modules are available in 500W and 1000W outputs; 48V modules are available in 1000W and 1800W outputs. The system features two-pole load and battery distribution (LVBD). Eltek is a successful solution provider for this market with its SMPS 700 system and other products. The Flatpack S Wallbox is a drop in replacement for this system allowing customers to get improved manageability and power efficiency in the same form factor with the same installation points and electrical cable locations. The Flatpack S Wallbox can be managed by Eltek’s advanced Smartpack S controller that provides remote monitoring, maintenance and data collection. The Smartpack S has enhanced battery management capabilities including extensive testing features, automatic temperature compensated battery charging, and support for automatic and manual boost-charging methods. In many cases, these features can extend the life of batteries and provide an accurate estimate of battery capacity and remaining lifetime. The chassis offers IP23-level protection. The Flatpack S Wallbox is simple to administer, with a removable front panel that provides easy access for service and installation.
