Bombardier Aerospace to Cut 1,080 Jobs in Belfast
Oct 28 16
Bombardier Aerospace is to accelerate an ongoing redundancy program in the North and cut a total of 1,080 jobs within the next few months instead of a previously outlined two-year period. The company announced that it intends to speed up the pace of the redundancies that it first announced in February as part of a push to reduce its global workforce by 7,000. The acceleration in the planned redundancy program in the North follows Bombardier's confirmation that it intends to cut a further 7,500 jobs across its global operation, prompting fears that the North may yet be subject to another round of cuts.
Flexjet Orders 20 Bombardier Challenger 350 Business Jets from Bombardier Aerospace
Nov 20 15
Flexjet reported that it has exercised options for 20 additional Challenger 350 business jets from Bombardier Aerospace, bringing to 40 the number of firm orders Flexjet has placed for the highly sought-after super-midsized aircraft. The Challenger 350 is the successor to Bombardier's venerable Challenger 300, which has served as the backbone of the Flexjet fleet since the company's founding 20 years ago. Bombardier relied heavily on Flexjet's Challenger 300 operating data and user experience information to design many of the advances and enhancements on the Challenger 350 that have been so well received by Flexjet Owners.
Toronto-Area Bombardier Aerospace Workers Ratify Collective Agreements
Jun 29 15
Members of two Unifor locals at Bombardier Aerospace in Downsview, Ont., have ratified new collective agreements with the company. The agreements approved include improved pensions and job security, along with wage increases. The contracts cover members of Unifor Local 112 who work in production at the Toronto-area plant, as well as members of Unifor Local 673 who work in technical office and clerical positions. There will be wage hikes in the second and third year of the agreements of one and 1.25% respectively. The contracts expire in June 2018. The union says the agreements also call for contract workers to be made permanent.
