Telekom Romania to Invest More Than EUR 160 Million in 2015

Telekom Romania announced that it plans to invest more than EUR 160 million in 2015 in developing its fibre optics and 3G/4G networks and improving its services. The company will direct most of the investments towards the further roll-out of its network, Nikolai Beckers, CEO of the Telekom Romania operations, was quoted as saying in a company statement Telekom will continue the IP migration of current customers and the expansion of fibre optic based technologies (FTTH/FTTB). The estimated households' footprint for fibre for 2015 is over one million, while by the end of 2016 it is expected to reach two million. On the mobile segment, the 4G coverage will double until end-2015. Telekom Romania said it has achieved its targets for 2014 of more than EUR 1 billion turnover and 30% revenue market share. The Romanian units of Greece's OTE - fixed-line operator RomTelecom and mobile operator Cosmote Romania - were rebranded to Telekom Romania, a brand pertaining to Deutsche Telekom, in September. Deutsche Telekom owns a controlling 40% stake in OTE.
Telekom Romania Names Popovici as Customer Process Officer

Telekom Romania appointed Andrei Popovici as chief customer process officer. Popovici will be responsible for the monitoring and optimisation of network utilisation and revenue growth. He will also be in charge with the alignment of the sales, operations, and infrastructure capabilities in order to sustain the company's development and results. In his last role, as board member with Romanian bank BRCI, he was responsible for leading the bank's Operations, IT, and Transformation units.
