Airtel In Talks With Orange To Sell Its Africa Units

Bharti Airtel Limited (BSE:532454) entered into an exclusive agreement with Orange (ENXTPA:ORA) to sell its four Airtel subsidiaries in Africa. The talks between Orange and Bharti Airtel International (Netherlands) B.V. is to explore the possible acquisition by Orange of Airtel's subsidiaries in Burkina Faso, Chad, Congo Brazzaville and Sierra Leone.

IHS Closes Tower Sale and Lease Back Agreement with Airtel Zambia

IHS Holding Limited has completed the sale and lease back of 949 towers in Zambia from Airtel Zambia (Airtel) under long term renewable contracts announced on 15 December 2014. Outsourcing tower infrastructure to IHS allows Airtel to focus on its core business and customers; enables it to deleverage through debt reduction, and will significantly reduce its ongoing capital expenditure on passive infrastructure. In addition, IHS will be rolling out its renewable energy solutions across the Airtel network. Already a leader in energy efficiency for mobile infrastructure across sub-Saharan Africa, IHS will roll out its diesel reduction initiatives which offset the unreliability of electrical grids and reduce diesel consumption whilst maintaining unparalleled network uptime.

Orange To Purchase Four African Subsidiaries From Bharti Airtel Limited

Orange (ENXTPA:ORA) is in exclusive negotiations to purchase four African subsidiaries from Bharti Airtel Limited (BSE:532454). Orange and Airtel have entered into an exclusive agreement to explore the possible acquisition by Orange of Airtel's subsidiaries in Burkina Faso, Chad, Congo Brazzaville and Sierra Leone, the French group said in a statement. There is no certainty of any binding agreement as a result of these discussions currently underway with Bharti Airtel International (Netherlands) B.V. Lazard is acting as financial advisor to Orange in the transaction.
