MEDHOST Advances Clinical Mobility with Native iPad(R) App for Emergency Department Information System
Oct 10 13
MEDHOST introduced MEDHOST AXON, a native iPad(R) app that enables physicians and nurses to interact with its industry-leading emergency department information system (EDIS). MEDHOST pioneered touchscreen EDIS technology 15 years ago, so creating the MEDHOST AXON mobility platform to make clinician tools available anytime, anywhere is a logical evolution of MEDHOST's EDIS. MEDHOST AXON was developed as part of MEDHOST's clinician-centric mobility strategy, which is centered on helping ED clinicians streamline their daily workflows by enabling mobile interaction with the MEDHOST EDIS. Development of MEDHOST AXON was driven by clinicians who have benefited from MEDHOST's EDIS for many years. They envisioned that a mobile application for EDIS would complement the core system and provide value for the clinician on the move throughout the ED. The order entry application physicians see on their iPad with MEDHOST AXON is exactly the same as the order entry they're accustomed to seeing in MEDHOST's EDIS on desktop computers, creating a consistent, multi-modal experience for clinicians. The initial MEDHOST AXON version is focused on providing clinicians comprehensive ordering capability because orders and treatments are physicians' most important activities when caring for patients. Orders are also time critical, and they can significantly impact patient safety and the facility's ability to meet Meaningful Use requirements. MEDHOST AXON was designed to fit any hospital's mobility needs, and while it was initially developed for Apple iOS, the MEDHOST AXON platform will be available for any mobile device using HTML5. MEDHOST AXON is available for download from the iTunes App Store(SM).
