Andhra Pradesh Government Inks Two Agreements to Build LNG Terminal

The Andhra Pradesh government has inked two memoranda of understanding to establish a floating LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) terminal at Kakinada Deep Water Port in the southern Indian state. The first agreement is a terminal company pact signed between Shell, GDF SUEZ and the Andhra Pradesh Gas Distribution Corp. It helps the execution/development of the terminal. APGDC will hold 48% equity in the proposed project, while Shell and GDF SUEZ will have 26% each. The second agreement is a trade pact between Shell, GDF SUEZ and GAIL. It covers the sourcing of LNG as well as marketing of the regasified LNG from the unit. GAIL will have 48% equity in the project, while the other two will hold 26% each.

Shell, GDF Suez Eyeing Stake In Gail’s Kakinada FLNG Project

Royal Dutch Shell plc (ENXTAM:RDSA) and GDF SUEZ S.A. (ENXTPA:GSZ) are looking into a 52% stake buy in Gail’s proposed FLNG terminal at Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh from Andhra Pradesh Gas Distribution Corporation Limited. Both companies would hold a 26% stake each with the Andhra Pradesh Gas Distribution Corp holding the remaining 48%, according to reports. The deal should be signed within the next few days.
